Charity Choral Concert in Support of Guide Dogs Wales – 26 September

We all value our precious sight and must admire all those who work tirelessly to assist those who are blind or partially sighted. Guide Dogs Wales is part of a charity founded to help blind and partially sighted people by training and providing guide dogs. One of our choristers, Ian Caulfield, who has been singing bass with the choir since 2013 has had the benefit of having 6 guide dogs over the years and can testify to the difference they have made to his life. Ian is currently without a guide dog – he has applied for one but there is a waiting list in the Welsh region of 70 people with only 15 dogs currently being trained. This is the reason why Mountain Ash and District Choral Society have decided to host a charity concert in aid of Guide Dogs Wales.

We hope that as many people as possible will come along and enjoy a varied programme which includes a medley from Les Misérables as well as some lovely Welsh songs and other well known, and some not so well known, choral pieces. We’re delighted that the St Margaret’s Children’s Chorus will also be taking part.

The concert will be held on 26 September at St Margaret’s Church in Mountain Ash at a cost of £5 per person, to be paid at the door. So, do come and join us, happy in the knowledge that all the money raised that evening will be given to a very worthy cause.

Budd-gyngerdd Corawl Er Lles Guide Dogs Cymru – 26 Medi

Dyn ni gyd yn trysori ein golwg a dylem edmygu’r bobl sy’n gweithio’n ddiflinio i gynorthwyo’r rhai sy’n ddall neu sy’n wan eu golwg. Rhan o elusen a sefydlwyd i helpu pobl ddall a phobl sy’n wan eu golwg trwy hyfforddi a darparu cŵn tywys yw Guide Dogs Cymru. Mae Ian Caulfield, a fu’n canu bas yn y côr ers 2013, wedi manteisio oherwydd mae Guide Dogs wedi’i ddarparu â 6 chi tywys yn y gorffennol. Gall dystio bod y cŵn wedi gwneud gwahaniaeth mawr i’w fywyd. Does dim ci gyda Ian ar hyn o bryd – mae wedi ymgeisio am un ond mae 70 pobl ar y rhestr aros yng Nghymru a dim ond 15 ci sy’n cael eu hyfforddi ar hyn o bryd. Dyna pam mae Cymdeithas Gorawl Aberpennar a’r Cylch wedi penderfynnu i gynnal budd-gyngerdd er lles Guide Dogs Cymru.

Gobeithiwn y bydd llawer o bobl yn mynychu’r cyngerdd i fwynhau rhaglen amrywiol a fydd yn cynnwys cadwyn o alawon o Les Misérables ynghyd â chaneuon Cymraeg a darnau corawl adnabyddus a rhai nad ydynt mor adnabyddus. Mae’r côr yn edrych ymlaen at glywed St Margaret’s Children’s Chorus a fydd yn ymuno â ni.

Cynhelir y cyngerdd ar 26 Medi yn Eglwys y Santes Margaret, Aberpennar a chodir £5 y person wrth y drws. Felly, dewch i ymuno â ni, yn ymfalchïo yn y ffaith y bydd yr arian a godir y noson honno yn cael ei roi i achos mor deilwng.

What a wonderful evening in support of this very worthy charity.
Can I thank the choir and our accompanist, Kelly, for their contribution to the evening and particular thanks to the St Margaret’s Junior Chorus and Libby and Rhys. Wonderful to see young children enjoying singing and performing.
A tremendous sum raised in support of this worthy cause, no doubt assisted by the heartfelt words of Ian.
